Understanding the Internet and Email

This course will teach you how to set up a broadband connection, find a browser, surf the internet and how to keep your computer secure and safe from viruses.                                                                                                   Course Length:  9 hours

Introduction to Computers

Basic introduction knowledge to Word-processing, spreadsheets, database.
Some objectives are as follows:

1. Computer Basics start, shut down, settings, control panel, hardware/software, and printer.
2. Terms and parts of the computer
3. Parts of a window/format disk
4. Creating a folder
5. Overview of Word Processing and Spreadsheets
Course Length: 12 hours





Senior Citizen Introduction to Computers

This class is designed for senior citizens who want to learn the basics of computers. Students will gain hands-on experience using a windows operating system, electronic spreadsheet and Internet/E-mail. No prior experience expected. The objectives of this class are as follows:

1. Computer Basics start, shut down, settings, control panel, hardware/software and printer.
2. Terms and parts of the computer
3. Parts of a window/format disk
4. Create a folder
5. Overview of Word Processing and Spreadsheets
Course Length: 10 hours

 

 

Keyboarding

Strictly for beginners, this course takes you through the very first steps of understanding the computer keyboard.  Learn the home row, space bar, enter and delete, and backspace keys. No need for speed.  Learn the right way to type.

Microsoft Word

This Office program is an up-to-date word processing program widely used in offices, as well as in the home. Students will learn basic integrated components of the software and be able to create, design and modify different types of documents and tables upon the completion of the class. An XP format will be used. Previous computer experience is recommended. Classes delivered in three separate sessions: Introduction, Intermediate and Advanced. Students should take classes in prescribed order.
Course Length: 15 hours
Prequisite: Introduction to Computers





Microsoft Excel

Learn to create and modify Excel workbooks, enter and edit data, format and manipulate reports, and chart data. Emphasis will be placed on home and office spreadsheet applications. Previous computer experience recommended. Delivered in three separate classes: Introduction, Intermediate and Advanced. Students should take classes in prescribed order.

Objectives:
1. Terms and definitions in Excel
2. Creating a worksheet
3. Entering text and numbers into a worksheet
4. Calculating, auto sum, and using formulas
5. Creating templates and working with multiple worksheets and workbooks
6. Linking an Excel worksheet to a word document
Course Length: 15 hours
Prequisite: Introduction to Computers





Microsoft Access

Microsoft Access will give learners the skills and knowledge necessary to be able to create, edit and query databases and tables. This will give students the skills and knowledge necessary to take full advantage of Microsoft Access’s capabilities. Students will learn how to create and manipulate forms and records, and use some of Access’s advanced tools.
Course Length: 15 + hours
Prequisite: Introduction to Computers





Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook will give you a basic overview of the personal information manager capabilities provided within this popular software. Some things you will become proficient in will be the use of a calendar to maintain your appointment book, setting reminders to alert you of an appointment and, if you are working within a network, you will also be able to view other member’s calendars and learn how to schedule group meetings. You will learn how to maintain a contact list with all of the people you know and/or do business with, store records of your activities completed and tasks that must be done. This program will also manage your e-mail while maintaining addresses directly from your contact list. If you want to get your life organized and do away with paper overload, this is the software that will allow you to do that. This class will cover a basic overview of the entire capabilities of Microsoft Outlook and following completion the student will be able to navigate comfortably throughout the program customizing it to best suit his or her needs. Working knowledge of computers is recommended.

Microsoft PowerPoint

This class provides students with introductory information on how to create professional graphical presentations using PowerPoint. Students create overheads, electronic paper, photo-print, and slide presentations. Previous computer experience recommended.

1. Uses of slide shows
2. Discussion on how a slide show could assist them at work
3. Using a design template and auto layout to create a presentation
4. Parts of a power point window
5. Using clip art to create a slide show
6. Using embedded Visuals to Enhance a Slide Show
7. Create a self run presentation
Course Length: 15 hours
Prequisite: Introduction to Computers





Introduction to CAD

Introduction to AutoCAD will cover various commands, layers, linetypes, plotting, file manipulation.
Course Length: 18+ hours





Quick Books Computerized Accounting

This course will cover all aspects of computerized accounting, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, taxes, ledger and journal processing. Knowledge of accounting principles recommended. Working knowledge of computers required.
