CCCTC Medical

Nurse Aide

Students will become familiar with the role and function of a nurse aide and will be trained in the personal care skills necessary to work in a long-term care, acute care or private duty setting. Learn to assess vital signs, collect specimens and care for all types of patients. Classroom and clinical instruction will be given in providing safe and effective nursing care and clients in a variety of health settings. The course is 104 hours in length and includes 48 hours of supervised clinical experience. Clinical training will be at Ridgeview Eldercare and Rehabilitation Center. A current PA State Criminal Record Check (Act 14 Clearance) is necessary and current TB testing.

CPR (Adult)

Would you like to have the ability to save someone’s life? If the answer is yes, this course will cover: rescue breathing, adult CPR, conscious and unconscious choking. Your certification will be presented upon passing the course.
Course Length: 3 hours

 


CPR AND FIRST AID

This combination course of CPR and First Aid is designed to give the participant the confidence to respond in an emergency situation with skills that can save a life.  Certifications will be presented upon passing the course.                            Course Length: 8 hours

Medical Terminology

On completion of this course, you will be able to identify, spell, and define medical terms related to the diagnosis, surgeries, therapies, and diagnostic tests. You will learn how to build medical terms and use abbreviations and symbols
Course Length: 20 hours

Anatomy & Physiology

This class will allow the student to understand basic human body functions and the life process; to name the major human body systems and relate their functions; and to name the major components of each system, describing briefly their anatomical locations and structures and their physiological functions
Course Length: 24 hours

Pharmacology

This class summarizes the core principles of the mode of action of drugs.  It provides an overview of disease processes and an analysis of basic drug actions, drug therapy, toxicity, side effects and safe ranges for therapeutic dosages. Major drug interactions within a particular body system is also included.
Course Length: 24 hours

Medical Coding

This course prepares the student to have a working knowledge of the basic rules and regulations pertaining to medical coding and how it's utilized in a variety of health care settings.  Class time will cover ICD-9 CM (Clinical Modification medical coding functions) or the International classification of diseases; and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), used for billing in a physicians office.  As a prerequisite, students should have courses in, or knowledge of, Medical Terminology, Pharmacology, and Anatomy and Physiology.
Course Length: 90 hours

 
 

Insurance Billing

The Medical Insurance Billing course provides instruction and hands-on training in how to decipher medical insurance coding and how to process insurance claims accurately to obtain maximum reimbursement.                                               Course Length: 54 hours

Phlebotomy

Taking blood from a patient requires fine motor skills. This program covers topics such as the proper identification and usage of equipment, procedures to be followed, safety precautions, legal aspects, medical terminology and the body system. Students will take 48 hours of classroom training and have 40 hours of supervised clinical experience. A working knowledge of medical terminology is recommended.
Course Length: 88 hours


Practical Nursing

Licensed practical nurses care for the sick, injured, convalescent and disabled under the direction of physicians and registered nurses. Most provide basic bedside care, including monitoring the patient and performing routine tasks such as taking vital signs, giving injections, applying dressings, administering medications, etc.
Course Length: 1 Year
